Hunter Cates is a photographer, visual artist, and filmmaker based in Berkeley, California.

Born in Key West, Florida and raised across the country as a military kid, Hunter moved to the San Francisco Bay Area at the age of 12. The Bay’s culture, landscape, community, and light continue to shape the way he sees and makes images.

His work moves between portraiture, fashion, lifestyle, music, travel, and documentary storytelling, often exploring color, place, memory, and the feeling of being inside a moment.

Through Laguna Bay, Hunter brings that same visual language into photo and video work for brands, nonprofits, founders, artists, and organizations.
